Hi there, readers! It was just before Christmas 2023 since I last posted on this blog. The holiday season came and went, but rest assured, my creative endeavours have been underway behind the scenes. Today, I'm thrilled to rekindle my digital dialogue and share with you a newfound passion that has been shaping my journey of poetry.

Reconnecting Through Poetry

Before I get into the world of poetry, let's touch base on what I've been up to lately. While my blog might have taken a back seat temporarily, my focus has been on honing my craft, particularly in the realm of podcasting. Some recent episodes have delved into the mesmerising world of poetry, exploring its intricacies and power to evoke emotions.

Embracing Poetry A Personal Journey

Now, let's talk about poetry. It's a relatively recent fascination of mine, but one that has already made a profound impact on my life. As someone navigating the intricate landscape of the autism spectrum, poetry now serves as another channel for me to express my thoughts, feelings, and experiences. It's like a canvas where I paint with words, weaving metaphors and rhymes to convey the essence of my inner world.

Exploring Language and Creativity

What draws me to poetry? It's the beauty of language, the dance of words on the page, and the endless possibilities for creative expression. In addition, I've always been interested in the rhyming of words on alternate lines, along with the use of metaphors. With each poem I write, I find myself pushing the boundaries of my linguistic abilities, experimenting with different styles and perspectives. Poetry is now where I can allow my creative juices to flow, and delve into the depths of my imagination.

Promoting Empathy and Awareness

But poetry is more than just a personal pursuit—it's a platform for awareness. Through my verses, I aim to shed light on my experiences on the autism spectrum, fostering empathy, acceptance, and understanding. The way I see it is each poem is a small step towards a more inclusive society, where differences are celebrated and voices are heard.

A Glimpse Into the Future

So, what's next for me on this poetic journey? I'm excited to share that I'll be featuring some snippets of my poems as blog posts, offering you a glimpse into my creative process. I don’t want to give too much away. But that's not all—I'm also toying with the idea of compiling my written works into a book, with one poem for each day of this year (2024), which is a leap year. It's a project that fills me with both excitement and anticipation, and I’m interested to see where it may lead me.

Conclusion

As I conclude this blog post, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of you who have been following along on this journey. Your support and encouragement mean the world to me, and I'm endlessly grateful for the opportunity to share my thoughts, experiences and creations with you. Together, let's continue to explore the transformative power of poetry and embrace the beauty of self-expression.

Autism and useful apps for education

Technology like apps weren’t around when I was growing up. However, I have taken some time to think about how these apps may have been useful to me when I was young. I’ve not used any, but, having carried out some research online myself, I have found several that I believe would have been my […]

Ways schools can be welcoming to autistic children

It’s that time of the year again when the new academic year starts at school. And this can lead to mixed feelings for neurodiverse children, including those with autism. Feelings can include how they may readjust to the school environment again after a considerable period away.  I haven’t posted for a while, as I have […]
