It’s been a while since I’ve posted, and that’s mostly because my time has been spent in learning new skills. These skills included editing videos for my new YouTube channel. The channel will focus on my lived autistic experiences, shared through figurative language, exploring not only what I’ve been through but how I continue to experience the world. My hope is that viewers will be able to both see and hear me in a way that adds depth to what I normally write here.
The process has taken longer than I expected. Video editing is more challenging than I realised. Tasks include juggling clips, sound, pacing, and trying to create a natural flow. And that’s only part of it. I’m also learning about tags, titles, descriptions, and thumbnails. These are things that make a video engaging before someone even presses play.
It’s been a slow start, but I’ve learned that’s completely normal for a brand-new channel. One helpful step was embedding my videos into relevant blog posts, which has already led to a small uptick in views, returning visitors, and even some surprisingly long watch times on one video. That gave me a much-needed confidence boost, a sign that my content may be connecting with some people. Growth doesn’t have to be fast, and you don’t have to wait until something is 100% perfect before you share it.
So that’s where I’ve been. I've been learning, experimenting, and building something new. And now that I’m slowly getting the hang of things, you’ll be seeing more of me again, both here and on YouTube.
If you’re curious about what I’ve been creating so far, I’ve added one of my videos below as a little preview of the direction I’m heading. I’ll have five videos up by the time you read this, so if you’d like to explore more, you can visit my YouTube channel for the full set. There's a link to it in the footer of the website.
